Our Laboratories: To make our students well acquainted with the use of state of the art techniques and machinery we have labs to meet requirement of the industry.
• Heat Transfer Lab: Heat transfer is very important subject in Chemical Industry. The aim of this subject is to provide good understanding to students about the heat transfer mechanism such as conduction, convection and radiation. The practical knowledge gained by the students during practical classes they gone through the basic practical equipments present in the lab like Heat exchangers, Evaporators, Natural and Forced Convection, Emissivity apparatus etc. These equipments help them to understand the basic heat transfer processes. Later students will use such a knowledge gained by them to the various types of chemical industries where these heat transfer processes are used.
• Mass Transfer Lab: In this subject the basic concepts of mass transfer are covered to enable the students to understand working of various mass transfer equipments like distillation column, gas absorption columns, dryers, cooling towers and extraction columns etc which are used in industries for purification of products.
• Process Instrumentation Laboratory.
Instrumentation is an inseparable part of any industry. If one has thorough knowledge of various types of instruments used in process industry, which are generally common in all the manufacturing units, then nobody can stop that Chemical Engineer to be successful in this booming field. In the PI Laboratory students are exposed to different types of instruments like Flow Meters, Controllers, analysers, Temperature measuring devices like Pyrometers, thermocouple; pumps, blowers , compressors, valves etc. While in theory they just study the Principal, working and construction of a device or instrument but in practical class they have hands on the actual instrument which helps to bridge the gap between imagination and actual field.
• Environment Engineering Laboratory: In today’s era a very important concern of every Nation is Environment. The question is would we be able to hand over the pollution free Environment to the future generation, so we all well aware of the importance of this subject. In the practical class students conduct practical related to water parameters like DO, BOD, COD, Power of Hydrogen, alkalinity, Acidity, Hardness and Air pollution checking methods. By excelling in this subject our students will surely contribute to the achievement of a pollution free environment.
• Chemical Process Industries Lab: A Chemical Engineer, during his/her professional career is primarily working in industries manufacturing various chemical products. It is therefore necessary to provide information to Chemical Engineering student about the new materials, the chemical involved and manufacturing process of some important and frequently used chemical products.
• Fluid Flow Lab: The knowledge of fluid flow is very essential because all chemical plants have fluid flow. The examples may be flow of steam and gases in pipes, flow of liquid in pipes and open channels etc. The course will aim at the basic concepts of fluid flow, measurement techniques involved for the same and equipments used for the transportation of fluids. With this background, students will be able to quantitatively find out material and power requirements for a process.
• Mechanical Operations Lab: It gives the student the knowledge of working of individual mechanical operations and their significance in chemical industries. With this information student can control the operation of equipment and regulate production.
• Applied Mechanics Lab: The subject Applied Mechanics deals with basic concepts of mechanics like laws of forces, moments, friction, centre of gravity and simple machines which are required by the students for further understanding of other engineering subjects in higher semesters. In AM Lab students have the opportunity to use experimental apparatus and compare results against that of accepted theory, developing and enhancing their knowledge of important scientific concepts.
